Selecting the correct cutting tool is a complicated decision that any piling Contractor will face on every job in order to complete it on time and, therefore, the use of an appropriate tool capable of achieving the overall expected productivity level is vital.

Soilmec drilling tool range includes general purpose Augers, boring Buckets, cleaning Buckets and core barrels amongst others. Standard Soilmec drilling tools range from small to large borehole diameters (400 mm – 2000 mm), and offer the possibility to mount kelly box size 130×130 mm, 150×150 mm and 200×200 mm.

Soilmec CFA equipment can be equipped with five different models of continuous flight auger: HD4”, HD5”, XHD5”, 15HD5” & 25HD5” according to the torque on the rotary.

The HD4″ model has the central round stem with an inner diameter of 4″ (100 mm) for concreting. The diameter of excavation varies from 350 mm to 800 mm. The HD5″, XHD5″, 15HD5″ & 25HD5″ model have the central round stem with an inner diameter of 5″ (125 mm) for concreting. In addition the XHD5″ and 25HD5 “augers are manufactured with central round stem with double wall; this allows to keep the inner diameter at 5” (125 mm) and to guarantee good strength to the auger.

The connections between auger elements are made of quick coupling hexagonal joints. They are built with special steel and they have 2 safety pins to prevent disconnections. The auger elements are provided with a disposable plug to prevent entering.of the soil through the hollow shaft. The plug is blasted when the auger is extracted and concrete, grout or bentonite mud is simultaneously injected.  According to the different soil conditions the leading element can use flat teeth for medium­ soft ground or rock teeth; all of them can be easily changed
